Looking for a home based business? Take time to make sure it feels right and reflects who you truly are. Stay in control, do not feel pressured. After all, whatever you choose is going to become a part of your life.
There are many, many home businesses available to us today. Some of them offer wonderful opportunities, are flexible to meet your needs, and can be truly fulfilling. Others will provide exactly the opposite - probably not because they are ‘dodgy’ but they just aren’t right for you.
Finding the right home business for you is a personal journey and you need to stay in control of that journey. Do not rush into anything because it just sounds good, because it superficially meets your dreams (these are very different from goals, needs and true intentions!) or because you feel a sense of obligation after being subjected to a series of questions to which the obvious response was “yes”!
I actively research home based businesses. It’s what I do. I don’t want others to have to navigate the minefield of insincerity, greed and manipulation that I experienced.
If you want to be truly successful in your home business, here are some tips to help you decide which one is right for you:
- Build a rapport with the person or people you are dealing with. If you’re uncomfortable with them you probably won’t work well with them. Take control.
- Be open to new ideas. Many will leave you feeling uncomfortable. That’s not a bad thing - in order to move forward in life we need to experience the uncertainty of impending change. Remember that whatever you choose, you are in control of your emotions.
- Trust your instincts - if it doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t - we simply do not trust ourselves when we should. Take control.
- Think about what’s on offer, imagine yourself actually in this business……and BREATHE. Breathe slowly and deeply, in and out. If your breath catches at any point, be wary. You will know if something is right for you or not. We have all done things in our life that we know we shouldn’t. Sneaking out, having a relationship with someone we shouldn’t, taking a job we know we won’t be happy with - recall those feelings and if they are presenting themselves again - be wary.
- Take control. Speak up if you feel pressured. Don’t be shy. You will be asked some probing and personal questions. Ask why. Take control. After all, this is about you! Take control.
- Do your own research and ask questions. You are very likely to find negative press/comments - research them too. Learn to differentiate between uneducated and ill-informed comments and those which have credibility.
- Remember, you are in control. You have the power of choice. Use it well.
